I remember this being one of my first photo shoots and how nervous I was about just being myself. My friend the photographer Goran, cracked jokes so I'd loosen up. Trusting a photographer is key to showing who you really are.

This shoot was for a feature in the 'Woman Wise' magazine of the Guardian TT newspaper. I learned early on to do my own make-up (which was dodgy at times lol) but it worked and I realized knowing how to manage make-up and hair as a performer was imperative.

Won the Newtown Girls' R.C. School calypso competition with a song written by my teacher Mrs. Vincent-Brown and classmate Aliyah Drakes in 1995 titled 'Seatbelats'. My ever supportive mom put two belts around my waist to resemble an actual seatbelt, I really thought I was Singing Sandra.

Mr. Louis Mc Williams, my professor at university went on to direct me for much of my theatre in Trinidad. This night I received the award for 'Lead Actress in a Musical or Comedy' for playing Belle from the heavily awarded 'Disney's Beauty and the Beast'
